The 154th Open will take place at Royal Birkdale in Southport, Merseyside, from 12 to 19 July 2026. Championship play will start on Thursday 16 July and run across four days, concluding when our Champion Golfer of the Year is named on Sunday 19 July.
From Sunday to Wednesday fans can attend our new bespoke practice days, each with their own unique offering. Read below on what to expect each day.
The Opening - Sunday 12 July
A celebration of summer and sport, Open-style.
- Be the first to experience and explore the spectacular course at Royal Birkdale
- Make the most of the off-course entertainment and facilities.
- Enjoy world-class sport with a fan zone atmosphere, including Men’s Finals Day at Wimbledon and the Genesis Scottish Open final day.
The Dream - Monday 13 July
Just one dream, shared by the world's best.
- Watch Last-Chance Qualifier, a dramatic 12-player contest that sees the final place at The 154th Open determined on the historic Southport links. Twelve players, one dream. The stakes are high.
- Be there as full field arrives on-site, all the with aim of lifting the Claret Jug at the end of the week.
The Inspiration - Tuesday 14 July
Where legends are made, history is written, and inspiration is ignited.
- Enjoy Heroes Classic, an exciting new showcase event where a select number of Champion Golfers and special guests take part in a short-format challenge, putting their talents to the test.
- Watch the leading players as they fine-tune their approach to this spectacular links golf test. This is the busiest day of practice.
The Eve - Wednesday 15 July
In just a few short hours, the ultimate test begins.
- Watch the final day of preparation for all players, on the eve of their quest to lift the Claret Jug.
- Enjoy the extra activities in our spectator village, including the broadcast of an Open Preview Show, as excitement builds ahead of the opening tee shot - and four days of world class golf at Royal Birkdale.
