Prohibited items at The Open

The following items are prohibited. Any persons found in possession of such items will be in breach of the conditions of entry and will not be admitted to the venue. 

1. Ladders (including step ladders), boxes, crates (including folding crates), periscopes, selfie sticks, and other similar items used to achieve an elevated viewing position.
2. Folding chairs of any description. Single stem shooting sticks and rollator walking frames (with and without seats) are permitted.
3. Bicycles, skateboards, skates and other ride-on equipment, except those required to be used as mobility aids by registered persons with mobility impairment. Bicycles must be secured in the designated Bicycle Parking areas.
4. Oversized Bags (Please see restrictions on left luggage).
5. Pyrotechnic devices including fireworks, explosives, smoke canisters, flares, laser pointers or similar items.
6. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) including drones, model aircraft, kites or similar airborne crafts/items. 
7. Noise producing devices including air horns, portable speakers, PA systems, megaphones or similar items used for amplification or broadcast.
8. Offensive weapons or other items where possession may be a criminal offence.
9. Alcohol and containers suspected of containing alcohol.
10. Glass bottles and any other glass drinking vessels.
11. Pets other than service animals (all dogs are prohibited from areas near play).
12. Promotional, commercial, political, religious or items deemed offensive of whatever nature, including but not limited to clothing, banners, signs, symbols and leaflets used for ambush marketing or other similar unauthorised promotional purposes.
13. Any other item that may represent a threat to the safety of any other person, items that breach copyright, unauthorised merchandise, banners, posters and other articles without the specific written consent of The R&A.
